MMM alum brings technical leadership to humanitarian relief group

Jane Coyne isn't trying to martyr herself, but in her work as a logistician for humanitarian relief organization Medecins Sans Frontieres (MSF), the Kellogg School alum has been a lot closer to danger than most MBA graduates. MMMs are #1 in Marketing

Leslie Murray (MMM '07) and Christine Anthony (MMM '07) were part of a team of 3 who took first place at the Rice's Marketing Case Competition.

The team was given an HBS case about Kinko’s at 9 pm on a Friday and had until 6 pm Saturday to complete a power point deck with recommendations.  They presented on Sunday to a panel of four judges sponsoring the event.  There were six other teams at the competition:  Rice, Berkeley, Michigan State, University of Iowa, Yale, and Chicago.

Joe Hinrichs, MMM Advisory Board member, is highlighted in the following article from the Chicago Tribune regarding the Chicago Auto Show. (February 2007)
Ford Offers Exec Chance for New Case Study: Joe Hinrichs spent the early part of his life in the small, blue-collar town of Fostoria, Ohio, playing by the rules. He was an altar boy. He had perfect attendance in school. He avoided rebellious teenage activities. He graduated as valedictorian of his Catholic high school, with a 4.0 grade point average.....

Wally Hopp has received the Society of Manufacturing Engineers Education Award. The award recognizes his contributions to the development of manufacturing-related curricula, fostering sound training methods and inspiring students to enter the profession of manufacturing. Anne Stevens, former MMM Advisory Board member and current NU Trustee, has been promoted to COO at Ford. (October 2005)

Joe Hinrichs, MMM Advisory Board member and regular speaker in classes and conferences, has been promoted from CEO of Ford Canada to Ford Company vice president for North America Vehicle Operations. (October 2005)

Barry Nelson has been elected INFORMS fellow. He will receive the award at a luncheon for all awardees at the INFORMS meeting in San Francisco on Monday, November 14th. The Industrial Engineering Department now has five INFORMS fellows on its faculty: Mark Daskin, Bob Fourer, Don Frey, Wally Hopp, and Barry Nelson. (October 2005)
